What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

 

Exercise Physiologists are university trained specialists who prescribe targeted and individualised exercise programs for people with specific sporting or weight loss goals as well as those with injuries or illnesses. Exercise Physiologists are experts at defining just what your body needs to move more effectively on a daily basis.

What do Exercise Physiologist do?

 

Exercise Physiologists use exercise as a treatment to improve your health and fitness, so as to reduce your risk or assist in the management of the following conditions:

  • Arthritis

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Osteoporosis

  • Obesity

  • Physical Injuries

  • Workplace Injuries

  • Diabetes

  • Heart or lung disease

  • Depression

  • Back pain or other musculoskeletal injuries

  • Chronic pain/fibromyalgia

  • Rehabilitation after surgery

Exercise Physiology Treatment

 

Our team has the skills and knowledge to assist people in reaching their exercise or health goals, such as:

  • weight loss

  • training for sporting events

  • injury rehab

Our Exercise Physiologist team will first assess your needs and requirements and design a program in line with your current management or treatment plans from other health professionals, to assist you with reaching your goals as soon as possible.

Adelaide Hydrotherapy welcomes NDIS participants; we work with Plan Managed and Self Managed clients. We also work with Return to Work SA, Private Health Funds, GP Care Plans & the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our centre is accessibility-friendly with accessible parking and changing/showering facilities. A mobility lifter is also available.

Emma Belton

Having graduated as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist from UniSA in 2017, Emma has been working in private practice for the last 3 years, providing a range of clinical services in the pool and gym environment. Emma has worked with a wide variety of clients presenting with various health concerns including Chronic pain, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Diabetes and Autism, just to name a few.

 

Outside of work, Emma enjoys keeping fit herself through dancing, football and gym work. She enjoys travelling and taking her Golden Retriever down the beach.

 

With Emma's bright and bubbly personality, she is passionate about understanding clients concerns and helping them feel comfortable and confident with their exercise program.

Damien Crettenden

Damien graduated as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist from UniSA in 2016. He has been working in private practice for the last 4 years, providing a range of clinical services in the gym and pool environment.

Damien has worked with a wide variety of clients with ranging abilities and health conditions. He has a strong interest in acute and chronic musculoskeletal rehabilitation and has extensive experience with workplace injury management. He is extremely passionate about his role and loves supporting each and every individual to improve their quality of life through movement and physical activity.
 
Away from work, Damien enjoys all things sport and outdoors and has played semi-professional soccer for over 15 years. With his spare time, he loves getting out on his mountain bike, escaping to the snowfields or heading off for a camping adventure.
 
Damien is passionate about helping you navigate your health journey and find movement solutions that work for you.

Jo Fennell

Jo is an accredited Exercise Physiologist working in private practise for
over 25 years. Jo has extensive experience in the assessment and delivery of exercise prescription for a range of health conditions and injuries. Jo has as interest in Balance and Falls prevention, pre/post-surgical interventions, chronic disease management, senior and women's health and osteoporosis.

 

Away from work Jo enjoys participating in triathlons, a day at the beach surfing, gardening, and reading a good book.

 

Jo has a strong focus on lifestyle education and is passionate about
encouraging clients to move and be active for better health outcomes and maintaining independence.
