Learning to swim is vital for kids living in Australia.
Our classes teach kids the imperative skills they need to stay safe in the water. A must-have for Aussie kids!
AQUABUBS (6 to 18 months)
AQUATOTS (18 months to 3 years)
SWIMKIDS (5+ years)
AQUABUBS (6 to 18 months)
The AquaBubs program is essentially the water familiarisation component of the SwimKids program, designed specifically for children aged 6 months to 18 months to experience activity in the water with a parent/carer.
The program is child-centred, which means that parents and caregivers work together with the instructor to support their child’s learning in the aquatic environment. Through a series of fun games, songs and activities, children will become familiar with water, safe entries, buoyancy, breathing and movement as well as develop safety skills and confidence.
These group sessions are great fun for both the little ones and their carers and afford opportunities for the instructor to assist parents to learn how best to interact with their babies and toddlers in the water outside of lesson times.

AQUATOTS (18 months to 3 years)
AquaTots is for children aged 18 months to 2-3 years of age, also with a parent/carer in the water, but this level provides a stepping stone to more independent participation as parental presence in the water may be gradually reduced and removed.
Like AquaBubs, the program is child-centred, which means that parents and caregivers work together with the instructor to support their child’s learning in the aquatic environment. Through a series of fun games, songs and activities, children will become familiar with water, safe entries, buoyancy, breathing and movement as well as develop safety skills and confidence.

SWIMKIDS (5+ years)
Clownfish to Dolphin: Children proceed to progress through a series of carefully designed levels which consistently build on consolidated skills and teach new ones when children are ready for them. Clownfish is the entry level for children to learn swimming and water safety independent of their parents/carers, with levels going up to Dolphin, which is the level by which swimmers are honing their technique in all of the swimming strokes.
All lessons generally begin with fun warm ups, move on to skills practice and end with short games which reinforce the lesson focus.
Children learn the foundation skills for the strokes and are taught using a part to whole strategy whereby strokes are broken down into their parts, practiced, mastered and finally combined. Instructors plan and implement engaging and enjoyable lessons that allow participants to learn, consolidate and extend their techniques. Constructive feedback and creative drills assist children to progress. Movement to the next level happens when instructors have observed, assessed and determined readiness.
Instructors understand that children learn best when they are engaged so they work hard to design and implement lessons that are a balanced combination of practice and fun. In addition to a focus on stroke development, there is a concurrent focus on water safety which ensures that children graduate each level with the skills and dispositions necessary to continue lifelong swimming and other aquatic activities.
